Take the Maui Bus
The Maui Bus provides affordable transportation between many of the island's major towns and destinations. Whether you're heading to Kahului, Wailuku, Kihei, or other areas, it's an excellent option for budget-conscious travelers. The Banana Bungalow is conveniently located just steps from the Pi’ihana bus stop on N Market Steet, making it easy to begin your day without needing a car.
Here is the fixed schedule for the Maui Bus. I recommend saving this to your phone, so you know exactly what bus to catch at what time. Queen Ka’ahumanu Center, a mall located in Kahului, functions as Maui’s transit center. You’ll go there to transfer to other routes. For example, if you’re trying to get from the Banana Bungalow Hostel to the West Side, you’ll take the bus to the transit center, and then hop on the West Maui Express.
Bus rules and fare info:
Bus fare is $2 cash. Bring exact change. The fare is free for students under 24 with a student ID.
The daily pass is $4. Ask the driver for a daily pass.
Note that you cannot bring big luggage on the bus, so it might not be a great option for airport transportation. You can only bring one suitcase or backpack.
