The Banana Bungalow is a family owned youth hostel established in 1990. Jim currently owns the Banana Bungalow, and he started out here as a backpacker, and then got a job housekeeping, and through luck and serendipity took the hostel over from the original owners. Our goal is to bring people together over a shared love of traveling and adventure. Our free tours, amenities, and social events help make traveling to Maui affordable, sustainable, and fun.
We cater to backpackers from around the world who are want explore Maui on a budget. We’re more than a place to sleep— we are known for our strong sense of community and family vibe. Here, you’ll arrive as a stranger and leave with tons of new friends.
We are known as Maui’s premier party hostel, with our legendary keg night party on Fridays. Our quiet time is no later than 11PM, so you are guaranteed to get a good night of sleep.
