Wailuku Town

We’re in the centrally located town of Wailuku, Maui’s seat of local government. ‘Iao Valley is near by, and you can walk to coffee shops, bars, and art galleries from the hostel. Wailuku has an eclectic, local vibe, far away from corporate, ritzy resorts. This makes it a great spot for travelers who want be close to everything, escape tourist traps and have an authentic experience!

Wailuku’s history

Along with Waiheʻe, Waikapu, and Waiehu, Wailuku is part of Na Wai Eha, four watersheds in central Maui characterized by their important histories. Na Wai Eha was once one of the most productive agricultural areas in the Hawaiian Kingdom, sustainably feeding large communities from mountain summit to reef.

The West Maui Mountains and ʻIao Valley are Wailuku’s backdrop. In town, you can find public art installations like murals and locally owned businesses. We invite you to explore one of Maui’s best hidden gems, Old Wailuku Town!
