Contact us if you are interested in doing work-trade with us. This is an unpaid position for free accommodation in our staff dorms; you’ll work 16 hours a week doing housekeeping. We ask for a one month minimum stay. This position is unpaid so please come with enough savings to feed yourself!
The ideal applicant is outdoorsy, likes to party, loves to talk to strangers, is very extroverted, has experience working in hostels or similar environments (National Parks, ski resorts), has lived outside of home and away from their family, has traveled a lot, is over the age of 20, is a little weird, artsy, flexible, resilient.
Most of those who work with us never want to leave, so we guarantee it will be a fun time :)
Apply to be a housekeeper
Housekeepers work four 4-hour shifts per week making beds, doing laundry, and cleaning bathrooms. That means you’ll work four days a week in the morning. In exchange, you will get free accommodation in our staff dorm.
We do not provide meals. You need to come to Maui with enough savings to feed yourself for the duration of your stay. Our housing compensation is approximately equivalent to a wage of $20 per hour. We do not provide healthcare or other benefits to our part-time employees.
Requirements:
Experience traveling domestically and internationally. We cater to backpackers, and want our staff-members themselves to be backpackers.
Experience staying or working at hostels. If you don’t have experience working at hostels, you need to have similar seasonal work experience, like working at a ski resort.
Impeccable people skills. You need to be VERY outgoing and VERY friendly. We are known for having amazing, welcoming staff-members.
Be at least 21 years old. This is not a good “I just graduated from high school” job. Go live a little first.
We are a PARTY HOSTEL. That means you need to like to PARTY, within reason.
Most of the people hired at the hostel have stayed here before as guests, or know someone who has. This is the best way to introduce yourself and stand out.
