8:30am – 8:30pm (varies depending on when the sun sets)
Our most popular tour! We hike the epic Sliding Sands/ Halemau’u combo trail. And then watch the sunset from above the clouds.
Highlights: The Martian landscape, endemic flora and fauna, the beautiful drive through Upcountry Maui, being in the world’s largest dormant volcanic crater, wow it’s really quiet up there, being able to tell your friends you did it.
Note: Note: This is a challenging hike! It’s 12 miles with over 2,000 ft of elevation gain while being at 10,000 ft of elevation. The air is thin, the sun is bright, and that volcanic sand is sharp. Dress appropriately and bring layers and rain gear: it’s 30 degrees cooler at the summit than at sea level.
